A 25-year-old man is dead after his leg hit a boat propeller on Lahontan Reservoir, officials with Churchill County Sheriff's Office said.
The incident happened on June 29 around 5:30 p.m.
Officials say Round Mountain resident Joel Orville Schwarz slipped on the ladder while trying to get on the boat. Schwarz's lower leg hit the propeller, which was still under power.
Officials say lifesaving efforts were performed but Schwarz was pronounced dead at the scene.
"We would also like to thank and recognize the citizens who set aside their day of relaxing to assist the Schwarz family in their time of need as they fought to save the life of Joel," officials wrote on Facebook.
The Nevada Division of Wildlife will be investigating the boating incident.
