Firefighters responded to a fire that started on a stove in a downtown Reno apartment on Monday, injuring a woman.

It happened on Court Street.

The woman was injured trying to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived, burning her hand in the process.

She was taken to the hospital.

It was a grease fire that got out of control when the woman threw water on it.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire and contain it to the stove.

The woman was babysitting when the fire started. A spokesman for the Reno Fire Department says the kids in the apartment are safe.
