A Reno man convicted of second degree murder last month will spend at least 10 years in prison.

The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says Randall Dahl was sentenced on Monday to life in prison with that possibility for parole.

61-year-old Dahl was convicted of killing 51-year-old John Gardner on December 9, 2014.

Dahl and Gardner were homeless living in and around the downtown area, according to the DA's Office.

Gardner was beaten to death in a room at the Flamingo Motel on Center Street and Dahl was identified as the suspect.

After killing Gardner, Dahl allegedly wheeled his body in a wheelchair to the entrance of the Reno Events Center and left him.

Dahl was found by Reno Police Department detectives the following day and charged with open murder.
