Greek Festival, Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church

Carson City Mint Coin Show and Fair, Nevada State Museum

Take a trip to the Nevada State Museum for the Carson City Mint Coin Show and Fair in Carson City. The educational fair features lectures, displays, kid's activities and a coin show with 28 dealers across the street at the Carson Nugget. Tickets are $4 for adults and free for Nevada State Museum Members and children under the age of 17. For more information, call 775-687-4810.

Hopefest, The Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, Carson City

This year's 7th annual event will feature Antsy McClain and The Trailer Park Troubadours, along with Tex-Mex waltzes, country ballads, and soulful R&B dance tunes. Attendees will also have a chance to enter a raffle for a new car or $10,000 from Dick Campagni dealerships. Proceeds benefit local cancer patient support. The center is located at 1535 Medical Parkway. Admission is free.

Elko County Fair and Horse Races, Elko County Fairgrounds

Nevada's largest county fair, the Elko County Fair and Horse Races celebrates 93 years worth of family fun at the Elko County Fairgrounds in Elko. For the kids, there will be lots of critters, rides, games, fair food, a carnival, and plenty of chances to win ribbons and more! For adults, there will be live horse racing with para-mutual betting, an extensive western horse show, a beautiful display of the best work by local artists, artisans, and gardeners, live music and dancing under the stars. 5pm, Reno Street Food, Idlewild Park

Over 20 food trucks will attend the Reno Street Food event at Idlewild Park in Reno starting at 5pm. Attendees can also enjoy wine, cider, regional craft beers and mixed drinks – and live music. Reno Street Food is held every Friday through October 3.

5pm, community rummage sale, Saint Therese of the Little Flower Church

The church is holding a community rummage sale starting at 5pm. Admission is $5 and will be held inside the Parish Hall, located at 875 East Plumb Lane in Reno. The main sale takes place on Saturday, so participants to this event will get first choice on items. A canned food drive will also take place on Saturday starting at 8am. 7:05pm, Bad Songs for a Good Cause, Aces Ballpark

Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern Nevada and the Reno Aces are teaming up for Bad Songs for a Good Cause. The event hopes to draw attention to the non-profit's purpose of housing families with children in local hospitals by allowing spectators to assign bad, annoying or cliché songs to opposing players as they go to bat. The game against the Iowa Cubs starts at 7:05pm. Songs cost $5 per at-bat session and participants can either choose from a list of 100 suggestions or pay $10 for a song of their own.

August 23:

7:30am, caravan of Corvettes, Atlantis Casino west parking lot

The Reno Corvette Club will host a caravan of Corvettes, as they travel through Reno on their way to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky for the 20th anniversary museum celebration and 5th National Corvette Caravan.  More than 80 Corvettes will depart Atlantis Casino early Saturday to head to Salt Lake City on the way to Kentucky.

8am, University of Nevada School of Medicine children's clinic

The University of Nevada School of Medicine's Student Outreach Clinic is holding a free children's clinic from 8 a.m. to noon at the Family Medicine Center, located on the UNR campus, just north of Mackay Stadium. Clinics offer physicals, EKGs, blood pressure monitoring, referrals and selected lab services at discounted fees. Spanish translators are available as needed.

8am, community rummage sale and canned food drive, St. Therese of the Little Flower Church

You can make a difference for a family in need by bringing a non-perishable item to this event. Suggested items are: canned food and meats, peanut butter, jelly, rice, pasta, hot and cold cereal, tea, dry milk, crackers, diapers and/or personal hygiene items. 9am, outdoor youth and family event, Capital City Gun Club

The Wild Sheep Foundation's free youth outdoor experience takes place at Capital City Gun Club in Carson City at 9am. The second annual event includes co-sponsors USA Youth Education in Shooting Sports and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Members of Team USA will be at the event to sign autographs.

10:30am, Fundraiser Aerobathon for Cueva family, Sports West

The community is rallying behind a young family caught in a tragic situation. On July 19th, 23-year-old Anthony Cueva was putting his young son Aiden to bed when a bullet shot through his home and killed him. He left behind a fiancé and two young children. Sports West is helping out and has organized an aerobathon fundraiser from 10:30 am -12:30pm. They are asking for a $10 donation. Sports West is located at 1575 South Virginia Street.

Inaugural Wild Horse Faire, Virginia City

The inaugural Wild Horse Faire will feature the Dayton Area Elementary Choir, a wild horse parade with Grand Marshal Lance Gilman and the Northern Nevada Veteran's Coalition Color Guard & the ‘601 Committee.' There will also be arts and crafts, a show & shine, pony rides, V&T train rides, food, live music, wild horse gentling and training and a Native American percussion demonstration.

Anthony Cox Jr.'s family is hoping you will come out to help them with mounting medical costs. The family recently learned their son has a brain tumor. The following week the family learned the tumor is a choroid plexus carcinoma, which is cancerous and has a 100% chance of coming back with the chance of being inoperable.  He's currently undergoing chemo and radiation treatment.  There will be live music, street vendors, and performers.
