 Aces Release

The Reno Aces entered play Monday on a six-game winning streak and ended it with two consecutive losses. They picked up a suspended game from Sunday and dropped a 4-3 decision in game one, and lost an 11-8 slugfest in the regularly-scheduled game.
Sunday's game came to a halt with the Aces coming to bat in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 0-0 game. They wasted little time getting the lead Monday night. Mike Freeman  worked a lead-off walk and came around to score on an RBI single by Danny Worth to give the Aces a 1-0 lead.
The lead didn't last long as Salt Lake came back with a four-spot in the top of the eighth. Alex Yarbrough tied the game with a run-scoring base hit off reliever Evan Marshall. Three batters later, catcher Jett Bandy gave the Bees a 2-1 lead with an RBI single to right-field. Former Ace Alfredo Marte followed with a two-run double to widen the gap to 4-1.
Reno rallied in the ninth inning when Trayvon Robinson and Garrett Weber produced runs with a triple and single, respectively. Weber's single made it a 4-3 game, but Salt Lake's Jeremy McBryde shut the door by getting Danny Dorn to pop out and Peter O'Brien to bounce into a game-ending fielder's choice.
In the regularly-scheduled game, the Aces jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a big third inning. Weber started the inning with a walk, Freeman followed with a single, and Dorn came through with a base hit to give Reno a 1-0 lead.
Nick Evans followed Dorn with an opposite-field, three-run blast to give the Aces and starter Robbie Ray an early 4-0 advantage. Evans finished the game with four RBI, giving him ten over his last three games.
Salt Lake took advantage of a crucial error in the fifth and scored seven runs to take a 7-4 lead. Grant Green got the Bees on the board when he delivered Josh Rutledge on a line drive to left-field. Green tried to advance to second on the throw to the plate, but was cut down when Ray cut off the throw and got Green at second base.
It looked like Ray would get out of the inning when Yarbrough hit a bouncer to short. Cody Ransom's throw was low and got by Dorn at first, allowing the inning to continue. Instead of the frame being over, the next five batters collected two-out hits.
The Bees scored four more times in the sixth inning and busted open an 11-5 lead.
Jamie Romak's two-run double cut the deficit to 11-8 in the bottom of the seventh, but that's as close as Reno would get. Bees' right-hander Cam Bedrosian entered the game and shut down the Aces over the final 2 2/3 innings.
Freeman and Dorn each collected three hits. Freeman boosted his average to .339 and Dorn is now hitting a robust .517. Dorn has 13 multi-hit games in 16 games with the Aces this year.
The series finale will be played Tuesday morning. Right-hander Gabriel Arias (1-0, 1.69) starts for the Aces against left-hander Adam Wilk (2-2, 4.41) for the Bees. First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m.Â
