A fire at a home in Yerington late Monday night has left one dead and one with severe injuries.
It happened just before 11:50 p.m. on Spence Lane in Yerington according to a release from the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
Upon arrival, first responders found the home fully engulfed in fire.
One woman and two children were able to escape the fire uninjured, while a man suffered severe burns and was taken to the hospital by Careflight. Another woman was still inside the home when first responders arrived.
When the fire was extinguished the remains of that woman, identified as 36-year-old Jessica Canterbury of Yerington, were found inside the home.
The Yerington/Mason Valley Fire Department, Lyon County Sheriff's Office, Southern Command Patrol Division, and the Yerington Police Department responded to the fire.
Investigators with the Nevada Department of Public Safety, State Fire Marshall's Office responded to investigate what caused the fire.
The Investigations Division of the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, with help from the Forensics Investigation Section of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, are conducting the death investigation.
