Protect your personal information while helping fight hunger in Northern Nevada! Jocelyn Lantrip of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada joins Sarah Johns to preview Secure Your ID Day, a free community shredding event presented in partnership with the Better Business Bureau, Food Bank of Northern Nevada, 2 News Nevada and community partners.

Secure Your ID Day gives Northern Nevada residents an easy way to safely dispose of documents containing personal or sensitive information and help reduce the risk of identity theft. Attendees can bring documents to the Atlantis Casino Resort west parking lot in Reno, where they will be securely shredded on site—all without having to leave their vehicle.

The event also serves as a food drive benefiting the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Jocelyn explains how a partnership that began more than a decade ago has continued to grow, bringing together two important community needs: protecting residents from identity theft and collecting food and monetary donations to help neighbors facing food insecurity.

Secure Your ID Day takes place Saturday, October 10, from 9–11:30 a.m. at the Atlantis Casino Resort west parking lot. Learn why secure document destruction matters, how the event supports the Food Bank and how you can protect your identity while giving back to the community.
