Looking for free fall family fun in Reno? The University of Nevada, Reno is bringing agriculture, science, local food and plenty of fall activities together for the 2026 Nevada Field Day & Ag Expo at the Valley Road Field Lab and Greenhouse Complex.

Sarah Johns sits down with Tatum Gogna, Agriculture Communications Specialist, and Bill Payne, Dean of UNR’s College of Agriculture, Biotechnology & Natural Resources, to preview this free community event and explore the research, education and outreach happening through the College. This year, Nevada Field Day moves from spring to fall, coinciding with harvest season and the University’s Nevada Family Weekend.

Visitors can explore more than 60 booths covering agriculture, biotechnology, nutrition, veterinary science and more, with University programs joined by community partners including the Nevada Department of Wildlife and Nevada Department of Agriculture.

The event also gives families a firsthand look at Nevada-grown agriculture and farm-to-table food. Tatum shares how visitors can see the Desert Farming Initiative's growing operations, meet farmers and students, and learn how produce grown there helps support the University's campus food pantry. Plus, fall wouldn't be complete without pumpkins!

And yes—there's a corn maze! Families can also participate in 4-H activities and play Where's Wolfie, searching for Wolfie plushies throughout the booths to earn a prize. Best of all, Nevada Field Day & Ag Expo is free, open to all ages, and takes place September 25 from 2–6 p.m. at 1000 Valley Road in Reno.
