September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) is asking the community to Know the Gold and understand what the gold ribbon represents for local children and families facing cancer. Brigette Cole, CEO of NNCCF, joins Sarah Johns on 2 Plus You Nevada to share how the foundation supports families throughout Northern Nevada and how the community can make an even greater impact through the Know the Gold campaign.

Running through February 4, 2027, the Know the Gold campaign gives donors an opportunity to double their impact, with the William N. Pennington Foundation matching donations dollar-for-dollar up to $1.25 million. Brigette explains how NNCCF helps reduce the burden of a childhood cancer diagnosis through financial assistance, emotional support, educational resources and mental health support.

Brigette also shares the inspiring story of a Northern Nevada teenager who celebrated ringing the bell after years of cancer treatment with hundreds of supporters—and turned that milestone into an opportunity to raise money so NNCCF can help the next family facing childhood cancer.
