Valentines Day is coming up fast, as this Wednesday marks the big day for florists. However the flower gurus say having Valentines Day land on a Wednesday is great because they have more time to take orders and deliveries.
Suzanne Shepherd, the Director of Client Services at Sparks Florist tells us “Our product came in, great beautiful flowers so we are ready.”
Shepherd says it's hard to tell as of right now because it's so early in the week... but it's looking likes Valentines Day this year are going to be even better than last year.
She says “Last year it was on a Tuesday so this year we have a whole extra day, so I expect it to be over and above last year.”
She also mentions that red roses are the most classic and popular flower on Valentines Day, and for the 30 years she's being in the flower business this has been the case “I think it’s always going to be that way I think people equate love and Valentines with red roses and we’ve got plenty.”
She also mentions how people often call in for flower arrangements at the last minute “Especially men I think sometimes they get involved with other things and they kind of forget and they wake up February 14th and say oh my gosh it’s Valentines Day what do I do so we prepare for that.”
Every year Sparks Florist hires and additional 30 to 35 delivery drivers to help with close to 1,000 deliveries. She says on Tuesday alone they'll make 200 to 300 deliveries.
If you would like to order an arrangement Sparks Florist has four locations in town, or you can call them at 358-8500 or click here to place an order online.
