A huge shopping day for children in need took place on Wednesday. Jacobs Entertainment's J Resort partnered with Dolan Toyota and the Reno Police Department to wrap and deliver toys to children currently living in Downtown Reno motels.

It started with the Reno Police Department, working with motels in town to find out where the children in need live. They were able to narrow it down to about 20 motels and almost 75 children.

Then the Target in South Reno held the shop-a-thon. The groups shopping starts with a budget, then they each get assigned a child's wish list. They then use that list to shop for their assigned child, making the trip personalized to each child and their interests.

“It’s just a fun joyous time of the year where we can all get together and some of our employees love to shop and we support it and we love giving back to the community,” said Ryan Dolan from the Dolan Auto Group. “Hopefully we can put some smiles on those kids faces and make it a Merry Christmas like I said, for everybody involved, because every child deserves something on Christmas I believe.”

Officer Tony Daniels, from the Reno Police Department told us, “Without the companies helping us it would be very difficult for us to do, so we’re very fortunate to be able to do it together and with everyone’s help.”

Officer Daniels said now that the shopping is over, they'll transition to wrapping the presents and personalizing them. Then they'll deliver the presents on December 22 at 9 a.m.
