The inmate has been identified as 31-year-old Mark Forcum who was accused of fatally shooting his wife in July.
His death was a suicide.
DECEMBER 17, 2023:
An inmate at the Washoe County Detention Facility died Sunday night.
The inmate was found unresponsive in their cell at around 7:25 p.m. by Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Deputies.
Deputies immediately began working to revive the inmate, and REMSA and the Reno Fire Department responded.
At around 7:53 p.m. the inmate was pronounced dead by medical personnel, according to a press release from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.
The cause and manner of the death are pending investigation.
The name of the inmate is being withheld pending the notification of their next of kin.
