The elusive morning reporter, Rob Haves, was born and raised in Henderson, Nevada, and moved to Reno to pursue a bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno.
During college, Rob was a host at the university’s student-run radio station, Wolf Pack Radio, where he found a love for radio and storytelling.
Rob spent three years in local Reno radio, covering the alternative afternoon drive on 96.1 The Zone, reporting local traffic and Florida Man stories before officially joining the 2 News morning crew in December 2025.
Rob has always been deeply invested in following tech trends and has an undying love for Nevada’s outdoors. Not only does Rob enjoy long walks on the beach and getting caught in the rain, but he is also a painter, an avid skateboarder and pickleball player, with a soft spot for all animals. He is a fan of wrestling, hockey, strategy games, horror, and has an affinity for skeletons.
Within three months of joining the team, Rob has already had memorable moments, like being tattooed live on air. We are very excited to have his energy and attitude on the morning show!
Rob insisted on ending his bio the same way he signed yearbooks: “H.A.G.S.,” which stands for “Have a great summer.”
