A fighter jet crashed near a naval air station in Fresno County, California, on Wednesday, with the pilot safely ejecting before the crash.
Naval Air Station Lemoore, nearly 40 miles south of Fresno, confirmed to CBS Sacramento that an F-35 jet crashed in a field around 6:30 p.m.
The crash started a small grass fire. Cal Fire reported that the fire burned about 12 acres.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
