An early morning fire destroyed the old Sierra Pacific Industries Mill on Riverside Road in Susanville. The fire happened just after 7 a.m. Sunday.
The mill was being used by Nobles Construction Components.Â
According to Cal Fire, there was a large mutual aid response from many local fire departments. California Highway Patrol assisted with road closures in the area.
In a post on Facebook, The CHP-Susanville posted, "While we have lost an irreplaceable piece of our community's history, we are immensely grateful there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters."
All roadways in the area have reopened.
