The Church of the Mountains in Truckee hosted an interfaith service on Monday night to honor the victims of last week's deadly avalanche near Castle Peak.

A rabbi who was at the service spoke about the importance of coming together at a time like this.

"The motivation was what we do in the community. Being together and sharing and reflecting and using our faith traditions and intertwining them, sharing the voice of our faiths together to provide that comfort," said Rabbi Evon Yakar, Tahoe Jewish Community.

The service came following a vigil held on Sunday night.
