A backcountry skier is recovering after being rescued by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office near Incline Village on Thursday.

WCSO Search and Rescue found the skier with a broken leg near Relay Peak.

"Our RAVEN helicopter and WCSAR Hoist Team quickly located the patient, stabilized injuries, and safely hoisted him out of the backcountry," the sheriff's office on a Facebook post.

Deputies set up a landing zone on Mt. Rose Summit where the injured skier was then transferred to North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District medics for transport to the hospital.
