The South Lake Tahoe City Council voted to keep Cody Bass as mayor and selected Keith Roberts to serve as mayor pro tem.
The vote was 4-1, with Scott Robbins dissenting.Â
Councilmembers also voted Keith Roberts as Mayor Pro Tem.Â
During the same meeting, Bass maintained his innocence as he faces assault and trespassing charges after an incident at AleWorX in Stateline in September.
Bass' arraignment is re-scheduled for March after the judge said he wanted to look into potential administration issues before moving forward.
If convicted, Bass said that he would resign from his position.
"If I were to in any way be proven to be at fault in this situation, then I would immediately resign from my position as mayor."
Robbins voted against Bass saying he believe Bass is innocent until proven guilty but he didn't think the criminal case against Bass is a good look for the City.
Previous South Lake Tahoe Mayor Tamara Wallace resigned after confessing to stealing money from a church and saying she attempted to take her own life.Â
