Ever wondered what to do to prepare for a wildfire or wilderness emergency?

As a way to help South Lake Tahoe residents and its visitors become more prepared during a wildfire or other wilderness emergencies in the community, the local fire department will be hosting a real-life scenario board game night.

Mark your calendars, on Wednesday, October 30 at 6:30 p.m., South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) is hosting a free emergency preparedness community board game night at the South Lake Brewing Co. at 1920 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

SLTFR says that light hors d'oeuvres will be available to players, and prizes will be given out.

All South Lake Tahoe residents and its visitors are welcome,  the event is free and registration is not necessary.

However, SLTFR is asking for anyone planning to attend to RSVP at Fireinfo@cityofslt.us or by clicking on the following link, to help them plan for how much food and how many games will be needed for attendees.

They say the game has been designed specifically for residents and visitors to South Lake Tahoe, it is an evacuation-themed board game that encourages its players to think through real-life scenarios in a fun and interactive way.

The game was created by a design professor at UC Davis, Tom Maiorana as a way to help residents become more prepared in ways that are engaging, empowering, and fun, as a way to manage risk in communities exposed to such things as wildfires, and other natural emergencies.

SLTFR says to learn more about the game you can listen to this short audio clip of a game hosted in Tomales below or watch this two-minute video by clicking here.
