A stranded hiker was rescued Friday afternoon by the Mono County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team.
The team was notified about a hiker who was stuck and potentially injured after climbing Mount Downs above June Lake Fire Station 1.
The rescue team contacted the hiker by cell phone and determined their exact location. They were stuck on rock surrounded by snow.
Two teams were deployed, the first team made it to the hiker and determined they were unharmed, while the second team worked on finding the safest exit route.
After the rescue, it was determined the hiker did not have the experience or equipment necessary for the climb.
