The Sierra County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) has announced that an arrest has been made after a woman was reported dead at a campsite.

According to a post from SCSO, in the early morning hours of Friday, August 8, a report was received that there was a deceased person at a campsite south of Sierra Brooks.

Deputies arrive at the scene and found a dead woman and a male described as "incoherent" at the campsite.

Forensic scientists from California and detectives from the Plumas County Sheriff's Office assisted in the investigation.

SCSO says that later in the day, 36-year-old Jesse James Dallman of Sun Valley was arrested and charged with homicide.

Based on what's been uncovered in the investigation so far, officials believe that this is an isolated incident and there is no known threat to the public.

The case remains under investigation.
