Casale’s Halfway Club has announced the death of John Stempeck – the son of late owner Inez Stempeck.
The restaurant announced on Facebook that he died peacefully at home on Sunday night surrounded by his family.
“A gentle giant who loved Shakespeare, poetry, and was never afraid to get his hands dirty,” the restaurant says. ‘We are comforted by the fact that he is with Inez & Tony once again. We’re sure Inez had the rolling pin at the ready.”
His mother, ‘Mama’ Inez passed in September 2020 at the age of 93, then just three weeks later, another son, Tony died at 63.
Casale’s Halfway Club opened in 1937 – it’s located at 2501 E. 4th Street in Reno.
