On Thursday, the new restaurant held a ribbon cutting ahead of their opening next week.

The highly anticipated Cracker Barrel in Reno hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday morning for the opening of the new restaurant. They're set to open 7 a.m. on Monday.

The new restaurant is located at the intersection of 5th Street and Keystone Avenue.

Besides being the newest restaurant in town, they're also giving back to the community by donating $10,000 to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada to help with food insecurity this holiday season.

"When new businesses come to the area, they're also bringing their philanthropic efforts to our region," said Reno City Council Member Devon Reese. "It's just a special time to be here. Especially in west Reno."

Some people in our community have been waiting a very long time for this Cracker Barrel appearance, while others may not have been to the restaurant before.

"I think people wanted to see Cracker Barrel here for a long time," Reese said. "When you go out in the community and ask people, they're always asking for specific businesses and this was one of them I heard a lot."

The menu consists of home style themed meals, which some call a home away from home.

"Cracker Barrel is a unique place because it's really home-style food," Reese said. "I used to eat there with my grandparents a lot, so for me there's a positive childhood memory. And it's something where you can know the food's going to be awesome. It's going to be hot, and they're going to be smiling when they're serving it."

Raymond Yoder, who has been to 670 Cracker Barrels has recommendations for newcomers.

"For breakfast you'll want to have blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup and a double shot of butter," Yoder said.

The 10,000 square foot building includes the restaurant and the Country Store. So far, they've hired over 180 people but they're still trying to fill some of those spots.

"We're just super excited about the amount of jobs we're bringing to the community, and the amount of people we're going to help out with those jobs," said Michael Brehmer, the General Manager of the new restaurant.
