Esmeralda County deadly crash

A 22-year-old driver is dead after a crash on U.S. 6 about 35 miles west of Tonopah last Wednesday night.

Nevada State Police troopers say the crash happened after 10:45 p.m. near mile marker 22 in Esmeralda County.

NSP says a 2024 Chevy Tahoe was heading west on U.S. 6 in the wrong direction while a 2020 Kia Optima was heading eastbound in the east lane.

NSP says the Tahoe driver steered to the left as the Kia driver went right and that's when the Tahoe hit the left front of the sedan.

The Kia driver, Summer Reid of Iyanbito, New Mexico, died on scene while the unidentified Tahoe driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

NSP says the two drivers were the only people inside the cars.

The crash remains under investigation.
