Crews working to clear snow from I-80 amid intense winter storms are contending with snow blowers breaking down in the extreme conditions.
In a post on X Caltrans District 3 says they have only two of their 10 blowers operational at their central hub in Kingvale.
They say only six out of 20 blowers are working from Auburn to the Nevada state line.
In their post they reiterated that I-80 remains closed with no estimated time of reopening.
Part of the difficulty crews are facing during this storm is blowers breaking down due to the severe conditions.
