Two California people have been sentenced to prison after both pleaded guilty to drug trafficking.Â
The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says Luis Chavez-Navarro and Luisa Cardona-Valle were sentenced to 10-25 years and 8-20 years in prison, respectively.Â
Prosecutors say regional local enforcement arrested the duo in January after Chavez-Navarro agreed to sell almost 9 pounds of fentanyl and 2 pounds of methamphetamine to an undercover officer.
The DA's office says when the two arrived to deliver the drugs, they were met by detectives who took them into custody.
Authorities say they found 9.5 pounds of fentanyl and two pounds of meth contained in a backpack as well as a hidden compartment inside their car.
