A 40-year-old Elko man is behind bars, accused of felony domestic battery with strangulation.
Elko Police were called to an apartment complex on Connolly Drive on a report of a man, identified as Carlo Cameau, who had strangled his girlfriend and chased her into the parking lot.
When officers arrived, Cameau ran back inside the apartment. His girlfriend told officers their two small children were inside the apartment with him.
Officers tried to contact Cameau unsuccessfully. Police were concerned for the welfare of the children and Elko SWAT was called.
After getting a search warrant SWAT forced their way into the apartment and arrested Cameau. He was later booked into Elko County Jail.
The two children were unhurt, and the Division of Child and Family Services was called to the scene to assist.
. Elko County Department of Emergency Management, Elko County Fire, and Elko County Ambulance personnel assisted in resolving the incident.
