If you saw smoke east of Sparks, there was a fire at the Lockwood landfill.
The fire started around 11:15 a.m. and put up a plume of smoke but crews at the landfill had it put out quickly by burying the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but firefighters believe batteries are likely responsible.
