Clean-up efforts for a fire that broke out near Glendale Avenue in Sparks on Tuesday are still underway.
We're learning more about how businesses in the area were impacted by that fire.
People we spoke with said it was a regular day at work when they suddenly started to notice the smell of something burning.
When the smell grew stronger, they walked outside, saw the flames right on the other side of their fence, and called 911.
Hugo Miranda, a worker in the area, said, "We smelled a little bit of smoke. We didn't think of anything until Oscar pulled in, and he's like, I think something is burning in the back, so we decided to take a closer look to see what was going on, and that's when we saw the fire. We immediately called 911."
They told us they started to alert their neighbors once they realized what was going on.
They said the fire department got on scene fast, but the wind was causing the fire to spread quickly.
Miranda told us, "The wind didn't help out at all. It just got bigger and bigger, and it got a little bit out of control, but 15 minutes later, fire departments got all the way around and were able to put it under control."
They told us they noticed a crowd of people and drivers gathering on the street, causing traffic to pile up and making it hard for fire crews to get through.
They were able to get their attention and direct them to an entrance that led straight to the fire.
Miranda said, "I saw a marshal. I told the marshal where the fire started, from where we're located, so he was able to come in right away and brought his truck to the back and helped.”
The fire caused them to stop working in the middle of the day.
They say their schedule got a little backed up because of it, but they're happy nothing was seriously damaged.
Miranda said, "We had some appointments lined up. As a matter of fact, we had customers stuck in the middle of the driveway, so we couldn't do anything. We couldn't move forward or back, or even close the door. So we had to remain, stay still."
They did tell us they were asked to evacuate shortly after the fire started but were allowed back in to close their shop around 6 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, although the fire chief says it appears accidental.
