The 61-acre Callahan Fire remains under investigation after prompting hours-long evacuations and destroying one home, two barns and a gazebo.
TMFR says it plans to map out small spots across Shawna Lane sometime on Tuesday.Â
Officially, the fire is 50% contained, and crews hope to have that to 100% by the end of Tuesday - especially with high wind being forecasted for Wednesday.
TMFR initially said the wind-whipped fire was 100 acres, but more accurate mapping placed it at 61 acres.
One firefighter was injured, but the extent of that injury is unknown.Â
Yesterday's wind driven Callahan Fire is a reminder that the 2024 Fire Year is not over. Area fuels are still very dry and fires starting in open, dry vegetation will burn/spread quickly on windy days. Follow @TMFPD @HumboldtToiyabe for more info. #CallahanFire #FireYear2024 https://t.co/gptECZ4iqE

The Defense Health Agency announced that TRICARE beneficiaries in Washoe County may receive emergency prescription refills now through Nov. 22, 2024, due to the fire.
To receive an emergency refill of prescription medications, TRICARE beneficiaries should take their prescription bottle to any TRICARE retail network pharmacy. If the bottle is unavailable or the label is damaged or missing, beneficiaries should contact Express Scripts, Inc., or their retail network pharmacy for assistance.
To find a network pharmacy, beneficiaries may call Express Scripts at 1-877-363-1303, or search the network pharmacy locator.
If possible, visit the pharmacy where the prescription was filled. Prescriptions filled by a retail chain may be filled at another store in that chain. If the clinician who prescribed the medication is available, beneficiaries can ask them to call in a new prescription to any network pharmacy.

A wind-driven fire in the Callahan Ranch area, south of Reno, prompted immediate evacuations this morning.
The Callahan Fire started around 10:15 a.m. on Monday, in the vicinity of Roan Trail and Galena Canyon Trail.
The fire was held to roughly 100 acres in size, but the size is expected to change once the fire has been fully mapped. About 3,000 people were impacted by evacuations, per Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue. They also say that rain helped the firefighting efforts.
According to Adam Mayberry with Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue, forward progress has been stopped on the fire. However, some evacuations remain in place.
Crews will be mopping up the fire overnight and into tomorrow.
One home and some outbuildings have been lost as a result of the fire - assessment by crews is underway.
No injuries to civilians or fire staff have been reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
Close to 20 fire and law enforcement agencies were on the scene; nearly 200 personnel firefighters helped to get the blaze under control.
