A fire threatening homes and ranches continues to grow in size north of Wells in Elko County.

Fire crews say the 11,385-acre Oxley Fire is moving north toward the Bishop Creek Dam area. Additional resources arrived on Tuesday including a task force from the Sierra Front.

Fire crews previously said about 15 homes and ranches are threatened, while portions of Wells and Metropolis, a ghost town, may be threatened. Residents should remain aware of conditions and monitor updates because conditions could change.

Elko County Fire, U.S. Wildland Fire Service (WFS), and Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) are all on scene helping contain the fire.

There's no immediate word on how the fire started.

Officials say you should pack enough for at least three days.
