At least nine homes have burned down due to the Bug Fire, which has scorched nearly 98,000 acres across northern Nevada.

Many of those homes are in the area of Red Rock Road. Several are off Deerlodge Road.

“I was obviously shocked, and I think not just the house, but my entire property burned, all the trees, all the wildlife. I mean that's really a lot of the hardest part,” said Amy Warner, choking up while talking about the damage to her 33-acre property.

When she did eventually return home, there was barely any time to sift through the wreckage.

“My friend was staying up here with me, thank God, and she and I put out fires for three days, and nobody was here," Warner said.

Now that the flames are out, the question is, where does she start?

"I'm trying to get my well going,” she said. “That's like the main thing. I just, half my tank is burnt, and that's the first thing I need is water."

The property comes with a lot of history. We asked if Warner had insurance to fix it.

“My dad built the house, you know, he built it way back when it was not insurable,” Warner said. “So, no, I do not have insurance.”

Warner says she’s been talking with the Red Cross, but has a lot already on her plate.

“They brought me some stuff, and I have numbers to call, but I've been fighting fires, so I haven't been able to call,” she said. “And there is no reception out here. I'm in the country."

Warner was not the only one to lose a home in the area. She is empathetic toward everyone dealing with the aftermath of the Bug Fire.

She is sleeping in her garage, which was one of the few things that didn’t burn down on her property.
