NV Energy has issued Public Safety Outage Management Watches in multiple places around northern Nevada in the coming days due to forecasted fire weather conditions.

Watches have been issued for parts of East Elko and Spring Creek, as well as for the South Carson, Jacks Valley, Genoa, and South Carson Clear Creek areas.

The potential outage window for Elko and Spring Creek has been set for Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

An estimated 1,413 customers could be impacted in East Elko, while 6,789 customers could be affected in Spring Creek, according to a post on the Elko County Fire Protection District Facebook page.

The PSOM watches for the Carson, Jacks Valley, and Genoa areas have been set for Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

These possible PSOM outages have not been confirmed. They are only a possibility as of Wednesday afternoon.

In the event the outages do happen, NV Energy is expected to set up customer resource centers with power charging ability, ice, water, and cooling areas.

If those locations are set up, ECFPD will inform people about the location of the center or centers.

People are advised to prepare for any possible outages by charging phones, medical devices, and backup batteries, having food, medication, and fuel ready, knowing how to manually open garage doors and gates, checking on neighbors, especially those with medical or access needs, and using generators safely, and never inside a home or garage.
