Mono County is opening a Local Assistance Center (LAC) to support residents affected by the Pack Fire.
The LAC will operate Friday, November 21, 2025, from 9:00AM to 7:00PM at the Crowley Lake Community Center at 58 Pearson Road in Crowley Lake.Â
County Agencies include:
* Animal Services – Lost animal reports, pet food, and supplies
* Assessor’s Office – Calamity documents and adjusted valuations
* Behavioral Health – Immediate support and counseling resources
* Building & Planning – Demolition, repairs, rebuilding, construction guidance
* Clerk-Recorder – Replacement of vital records (birth, death, marriage), real estate/property documents, and business filings at no cost
* Environmental Health – Water systems, private wells, hazardous waste/materials
* Social Services – CalFresh Replacement Benefits, Medi-Cal, CalWORKs, and additional aid
* Solid Waste Division – Recycling, transfer stations, landfill information State and Community Partners Include:
* California Department of Insurance
* California Department of Public Health
* Contractors State License Board (Virtual)
* Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) – Replacement of driver’s licenses, ID cards, and vehicle documents
* Eastern Sierra Community Housing

The nearly 2,000-acre fire is 96% contained. The cause of the fire remains under investigation after it destroyed more than two dozen buildings since starting last Thursday.Â

UPDATE - NOVEMBER 18, 11:00 A.M.
The Mono County Sheriff’s Office has lifted all evacuation warnings for the Pack Fire area.
Sone hazardous conditions remain, according to a post from Mono County on Facebook.
AÂ Local Health Emergency is still in effect due to debris and ash concerns.
The fire is now 83% contained at 1,970+ acres.Â
CAL FIRE says the fire remains under investigation after starting last Thursday morning.Â
Nearly 30 buildings are destroyed while 1,125+ remain threatened.Â
There's no immediate word on when the fire will be fully contained.Â

According to U.S Forest Service - Inyo National Forest, in an online post, says all evacuation orders have been lifted.
The containment percentage is still at 56% contained.
UPDATE - NOVEMBER 15, 7:30 P.M.
Containment for the Pack Fire now reaches 56%, after fire activity decreased from November 14.
A total of 3,000 acres has now been burned involving Mono County.
According to the CalFire website, the cause is still under investigation.
UPDATE - NOVEMBER 14, 10:07 a.m.
Fire activity in Mono County’s Pack Fire decreased overnight, with minimal flames and mostly smoldering reported, Cal Fire officials said.
Rainfall over the area has aided crews working to strengthen containment lines. A local Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command of the fire at 7 a.m. on Friday.
According to Mono County, residents of Crowley Lake began being escorted back into the community as the evacuation order for that area was downgraded to a warning.
Escorts are available via South Landing Road. Long Valley and McGee Creek communities remain under mandatory evacuation.
Cal Fire reports that 1,795 residents and 1,196 structures are affected by evacuation orders and warnings.
Crowley Lake Drive remains closed between McGee Creek Road and the Long Valley Fire Station, while Highway 395 is open.

Supporting Impacted Families (Mono County):
Several local families have lost homes and businesses due to the Pack Fire, according to Mono County in an online post.
Mono County is working with the Mono County Office of Education (MCOE) to collect gift cards for affected families. Officials say gift cards provide families with flexibility during recovery, allowing them to purchase food, clothing, household items, and other essentials. Gift cards can be dropped off at:
- All Mono County Library locations
- Mono County Office of Education, 451 Sierra Park Road, Mammoth Lakes
- Inyo County Office of Education, 166 Grandview Dr., Bishop
Monetary donations allow families to purchase essentials, including food, clothing, and household items. Physical donations are not being accepted.
The Town of Mammoth Lakes also says there's discounted lodging available, including Convict Lake Resort, Mammoth Lake Inn, and Outbound Mammoth.
Pet services are also available in the area, including Bishop Dog Boarding, and Mammoth Middle School for food and supplies.

Mono County is reporting that residents of Crowley Lake began being escorted back into the community starting at 8 p.m.
The evacuation order for that community has been downgraded to a warning.
Escorts will be available from both southbound and northbound closures on Highway 395, according to a post from the county on Facebook.
The only entrance to Crowley Lake will be South Landing Road.
The communities of Long Valley and McGee Creek remain under mandatory evacuation.
Crowley Lake Drive will remain closed between McGee Creek Road and the Long Valley Fire Station.
Aspen Springs, Hilton Creek, Convict Lake, and Sunny Slopes remain under evacuation warning.
Benton Crossing Road is reopened to vehicle traffic.
Fire activity has decreased due to rain, and fire crews will work through the night, with additional resources arriving on Friday.
The fire is five percent contained.
UPDATE - 7:35 P.M.:
The Pack Fire burning in Mono County has grown to 3,400 acres, according to Cal Fire.
Evacuations for the fire remain in place.

ORIGINAL STORY - NOVEMBER 13, 1:15 p.m.
A fast-moving wildfire is prompting full evacuations for the Crowley Lake and McGee Creek communities in Mono County.
CAL FIRE reports that the Pack Fire has burned approximately 1,000 acres since it started just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to Mono County officials, the fire jumped Highway 395 and is now about a quarter mile from reaching Lake Crowley. The left (northern) flank of the fire is approaching structures along Highway 395.
All air tankers have been released due to strong winds and turbulence, officials said in an update posted Thursday afternoon on the county’s Facebook page and the READY Mono website.
A Temporary Evacuation Point has been established at Mammoth Lakes Middle School and the Tri-County Fairgrounds in Bishop. A designated temporary animal shelter is also available at the Tri-County Fairgrounds.

Road Closures:Â
Highway 395 is closed in both directions from Benton Crossing Road to Rock Creek Road. Drivers traveling from Inyo County to northern Mono County or Nevada are advised to use U.S. 6 in Bishop as a detour.
