A suspect has been arrested in Lyon County as part of an ongoing arson investigation stemming from incidents earlier this month.

On October 3, North Lyon Fire responded to a suspicious outdoor fire on Oak Drive in Fernley, according to a release from North Lyon Fire.

The fire was extinguished, and firefighters spoke with several residents in the area. They also received home security footage showing the fire had been intentionally set.

That footage was forwarded to the Nevada State Fire Marshal’s Office for follow-up investigation.

On October 4, just before 12:40 a.m., firefighters responded to another suspicious fire on Royal Oaks Drive in Fernley, less than a 10th of a mile from the first fire.

Evidence found at both fire scenes indicated the possibility that the fires were related.

The fire scene was secured by North Lyon Fire and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office personnel for evidence preservation, and the Nevada State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to complete the investigation.

On October 5, North Lyon Fire was notified that an arrest was made in connection with both fires.
