The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) is reminding affected workers that unemployment insurance benefits may be available if their jobs have been disrupted by the Hawk Fire in Washoe County.
Workers who lost employment through no fault of their own may qualify if their workplace has closed and can file a claim online at nui.nv.gov.
DETR encourages anyone unsure about their eligibility to apply so their situation can be reviewed. Additional documentation may be requested, but individuals do not need to wait to file. Filing weekly is required even if your eligibility is still being reviewed.
DETR understands the strain this emergency is placing on the community, and its priority is ensuring that individuals and families receive support as quickly as possible.
