Four seniors in the Washoe County School District were awarded National Merit Scholarships for the 2024-2025 school year.
Each student will receive between $500 and $2,000 each year for up to four years.
The four winners are part of a group of 6,800 high school seniors who will receive almost $26 million in total.
The four students and their high schools, areas of study, and colleges they will attend are:
- Derek Kaleo Hanson, Reno High School, mechanical engineering at Washington State University
- Elijah W. Moore, Procter Hug High School, aerospace engineering at University of Nevada, Reno
- Victoria V. Nguyen, Earl Wooster High School, computer science at University of Nevada, Reno
- Miles G. Zeller, Reno High School, biomedical engineering at University of Nevada, Reno
