The Nugget Casino Resort has joined 'Drive Kind Nevada', a community campaign founded to encourage patience, kindness, and safer driving habits across the state.
Drive Kind Nevada, created by Elizabeth Whittaker, began in response to an increase in aggressive driving and crashes in Northern Nevada.
The volunteer-run movement aims to replace daily frustration on the road with small acts of courtesy that help prevent crashes and improve the driving experience for everyone.
Founded on the belief that calmness and compassion can have a ripple effect, the campaign reminds drivers that a brief pause or a wave of appreciation can turn stressful moments into positive ones.
“As our area expands, we’ve seen more congestion and, unfortunately, more aggressive driving,” said Elizabeth Whittaker, founder of Drive Kind Nevada. “We want to empower people to make a difference by spreading calm instead of frustration.”
The partnership with the Nugget Casino Resort marks another step in expanding the campaign’s reach. “Northern Nevada is built on kindness and community,” said Eric Rose, senior vice president and general manager at Nugget Casino Resort. “We’re thrilled to help spread a message that encourages patience, safety, and respect on our roads.”
The campaign’s message appears on billboards around the region, reminding people that "Kindness is contagious. Pass it on:" Drive Kind Nevada.”
Drive Kind Nevada also shares its mission on social media, stating that it aims “to inspire a wave of kindness on Nevada’s roads through community-driven awareness and everyday compassion behind the wheel.”
According to the organization’s Instagram page, “Together we are all superheroes, when we choose kindness behind the wheel, we become every day superheroes.” The page also reinforces its core ideas: “Courtesy isn’t weakness, it’s strength,” “Every merge can be an act of heroism,” and “Driving kind makes the whole community safer.”
With Nevada’s population continuing to grow and traffic becoming denser, supporters say the campaign’s message of mindfulness is more relevant than ever.
Drive Kind Nevada continues to call on residents, businesses, and organizations to get involved and help foster safer, more considerate roads throughout the state.
