Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford announced today that he has joined a coalition of 51 other attorneys general in filing a brief to protect G.I. Bill benefits.
The amicus brief, in an effort led by the state of Virginia, aims to ensure that military veterans and their families received full G.I. Bill benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
The brief was filed in response to the case of Yoon v. Collins, where Lieutenant Colonel Paul Yoon, an Army veteran, has allegedly been denied his G.I. Bill benefits by the VA, and also blocked him from transferring those benefits to his daughter.
AG Ford joins in on the amicus brief with the attorneys general from Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Northern Mariana Islands, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
