Firefighters put out a fire at a home in Lyon County on Thursday evening that is believed to have started in a backyard pellet smoker before spreading to a home.

It happened around 7:40 p.m. on Villa Way, according to a post from North Lyon Fire on Facebook.

The homeowner originally thought the fire had been extinguished, but firefighters confirmed it was still in the wall of the home before putting it out.

Everyone in the home was able to safely evacuate, and there were no injuries.

Everyone was able to return to the home after the fire was extinguished.

"Outdoor cooking equipment, including pellet smokers and grills, should always be operated at a safe distance from homes, combustible materials, and other structures," said North Lyon Fire in its post.
