BLM wildhorse gather

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is requesting public comments on the Lahontan Wild Horse Gather Preliminary Environmental Assessment and information under the National Historic Preservation Act.

The assessment focuses on a 9,687-acre Herd Management Area, with an additional 304,705-acre surrounding area in Nevada.

BLM estimates the current wild horse population at 518 and plans to reduce it to the appropriate level of 7 to 10 horses.

Public comments will be accepted until May 12,  and can be submitted online or in person.

BLM is asking that comments be submitted via the "Participate Now" option at the BLM National EPA Register by clicking here. 

Comments can also be delivered to the BLM Carson City District Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Road, Carson City, NV 89701.

They say written comments must be postmarked or otherwise hand delivered by 4:30 p.m. on or before May 12.
