JANUARY 16 UPDATE:
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has released the identity of a person whose body was found in south Reno on Wednesday.
63-year-old Shellie M. Vickers, of Reno, was pronounced dead at the scene near South Virginia Street and Huffaker Lane.
Vickers had been reported missing to the Reno Police Department on December 21 of last year, according to a release from the Nevada State Police.
The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation.
The Nevada State Police are handling the law enforcement investigation into the case.
ORIGINAL STORY (JANUARY 14):
Authorities are investigating a body that was found in south Reno late Wednesday morning.Â
Nevada State Police, along with Capitol Police, found the unidentified body near South Virginia Street and Huffaker Lane around 11:30 a.m.Â
Authorities say there's no known threat to the public and no road closures were in effect.
The cause of death is still under investigation by the Nevada State Police.Â
NSP says the name of the deceased will be released at a later date by the Medical Examiner's Officer, following next-of-kin notifications. Â
