Burlington give back to the community through donation

A new Burlington store in Reno is marking its opening this weekend with a $5,000 donation to Rita Cannan Elementary School to help teachers purchase essential classroom supplies.

The contribution was made through Burlington’s partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, a national nonprofit that connects donors with educators in need of resources.

The funds will go toward items such as paper, pencils, scissors, and glue sticks, ensuring students have the tools they need for learning.

Representatives from Burlington Stores, Rita Cannan Elementary Principal Jamie Schocko, and the Education Alliance of Washoe County will gather for the check presentation at the new store on Silverada Boulevard.

“On behalf of the Washoe County School District and Rita Cannan Elementary, I want to welcome Burlington to our neighborhood and thank them for their generous support,” said Principal Schocko. “Our teachers are thrilled to receive the tools they need for their students this year.”

Burlington Stores, a national discount retailer, donates to local schools with each new store opening as part of its ongoing effort to support education in the communities it serves.
