A man was arrested in connection with two carjackings in Washoe County on Monday.
On Monday, June 16th at around 12:00 noon, Reno Police officers were called to Glenwood Court for a report of a vehicle theft with shots fired.
When officers arrived on scene, they encountered a man who was attempting to stop the theft of his father's car. While attempting to stop the thief, the man was nearly hit by the car.
The man fired two shots in the direction of the suspect, but did not hit him.
An investigation was opened, and officers found out that the same man had entered a third person's home and stole her purse before being approached.
During the investigation, officials also learned that earlier in the day, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Sparks Police officers responded to a report of a robbery and carjacking in the area of Los Altos and Galleria Parkways, which appeared to be carried out by the same man.
The suspect allegedly robbed a woman of her purse and keys, then took her car and left the area.
Investigators identified 32-year-old Cory Quenzler as the suspect in both incidents.
At around 1:30 p.m., Sparks Police responded to a third report of a stolen vehicle near the location of the earlier carjacking at Los Altos Parkway. Sparks Police recovered the stolen vehicle from the Reno case and were able to arrest Quenzler.
He was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, residential burglary, tampering with a motor vehicle, and grand theft auto.
The Reno Police Department is investigating Quenzler’s involvement in the incident in their jurisdiction under Reno Police case 25-11743.
