Friday Night Lights was back in action in Carson City for Carson High School as they opened their season taking on Spring Creek.

The two teams got to do battle with some new improvements overhead in the form of new light fixtures.

The new lights not only add safety on the field and during games, but allow for pre-game, post-game and halftime activities that make gameday feel like a party.

School Athletic Director Thomas Reymer touched on the new project,

"So one of the big things that everyone's noticing is our new lights," he said. "It brings new safety measures for the athletes who are using this, and it brings a fan experience to those that are attending our games. Welcome to Friday Night Lights in Carson City."

The light show was a sight to behold and only bolstered the energy at the Carson High stadium.

But these weren't the only changes Carson made while students were away.

They made new improvements to the entry way to the stadium as well as to their weight room which also has a fresh coat of paint on the way to match their gymnasium.

Coach Reymer mentions that these improvements bolster their athletics and allow for athletes, students, and their families to enjoy Friday nights and other sporting activities all the same.

"We have not only football games, we have soccer contests we have track meets, including the state track meet here in Nevada," he said.

He also mentioned the addition of podcasting and journalism in projects from alumni, to allow students to dive into realms they would never have imagined themselves enjoying.

All of these amazing improvements will definitely have students excited for another year of school and athletics. Reymer gave a huge shoutout to the community for making things like this possible.

"We just want to thank the community for stepping up, the alumni for coming back and giving back to the Carson High community so we're excited to see how this year pans out and we hope to build for the future," he said.

The opening season battle was epic and full of electric energy on both sidelines.

The fans, student sections and families really showed out to kick the season off right. Spring Creek bested Carson High 33-13, we will definitely be keeping our eye on both these teams as the season goes on.Â
