Christopher Andersen

The family of Christopher Andersen, a wildland firefighter and helicopter pilot killed while supporting firefighting efforts in Utah, will hold a memorial service Friday, Oct. 16, at Lake Tahoe Airport.

Andersen was killed Aug. 7 while supporting suppression efforts on the Widemouth 2 Fire.

The memorial service is being organized by the Andersen family with support from local and state fire agencies and the U.S. Forest Service.

Beginning at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Andersen’s remains will be escorted from Zephyr Cove to Lake Tahoe Airport via U.S. Highway 50 by family members, local fire agencies and the U.S. Forest Service.

Community members are encouraged to line the route to pay their respects, support Andersen’s family and honor his service to the wildland firefighting community.
