A spring tradition is getting an early start in Bishop, where organizers are inviting the community to gather for food, music, and a preview of what is ahead for Mule Days.

The Bishop Mule Days Celebration will host a Cowboy BBQ kickoff on Saturday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Elks Park.

The event is designed to bring people together ahead of Mule Days week with a casual afternoon centered on barbecue, live entertainment, and activities for children.

Guests can expect a classic cowboy-style barbecue lunch along with live music from Eastern Sierra Now. Organizers say there will also be raffle prizes and family-friendly activities throughout the event.

Proceeds from the kickoff support local nonprofits that help make Mule Days possible each year.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. They can be purchased at the Mule Days office, online at MuleDays.org, or by calling (760) 872-4263.

The kickoff event comes as anticipation builds for the Bishop Mule Days Celebration, scheduled for May 19 through May 24.
