Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman caught on home surveillance taking a package from a south Reno porch and fleeing the area on foot, and now Secret Witness is offering a reward in the case.

According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred last month near Wedge Parkway and Whites Creek Lane.

A home surveillance system recorded an adult woman approaching a home, removing a package from the porch, and leaving the scene. Deputies described the incident as a case of "porch piracy."

The Sheriff’s Office is encouraging residents in the area to review their own surveillance footage from around the time of the theft and report any suspicious activity, persons, or cars that may be related.

“As online shopping and home deliveries continue to increase, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents to remain vigilant and take precautions to prevent thefts of this nature. Porch pirates can strike quickly and without warning,” the agency said in a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division at 775-328-3350 and reference case number WC25-50451. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Secret Witness at 775-322-4900 or at secretwitness.com.

Secret Witness is offering a $250 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect in this case.
