NHP Crash

A crash along State Route 342 in Storey County is now under investigation after a man was killed.

It happened on February 7, at about 4:15 p.m., when the Nevada Highway Patrol, a division of the Nevada State Police, responded to a crash near mile marker 2.

Troopers said a KTM dirt bike was traveling south on State Route 342 when it went off the road to the right, entered the shoulder, overturned, and slid. The driver was thrown from the dirt bike.

The man, identified as 35-year-old Sean Speed, of Dayton, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.

So far this year, troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command have investigated four fatal crashes, resulting in four deaths. Officials said those numbers are preliminary and could change as investigations and reports are completed.
