A person died in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday. 

According to Sparks Police, it happened just before 2:30 a.m. near Spice Island Drive and Spice Island Court. 

Police say the car was speeding and failed to navigate a curve in the roadway. The driver then lost control and hit a parked semi-truck. 

The driver was declared dead at the scene. A passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition. 

Investigators say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
